Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is proud to offer our neighbors and the community at large the experience of outdoor wellness at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens – right in your backyard – with WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series. Try for the first time or continue your practice at yoga, tai chi, forest bathing, painting, and enjoy live music May through October. Additional activities and events include West African and steel band drumming, bird watching, photography and dog pack walks. 

Our first events of the year begin May of 2022 and end October of 2022! Check out the Eventbrite link below to sign up for all things wellness events this fall.

The Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in collaboration with Raindancer Healing Arts would like to provide a FREE Guided Forest Bathing walk through the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Ward 7.

Forest bathing , also known as shinrin-yoku, in Japanese, means “bathing in the essence of the forest” and is scientifically proven therapeutic modality to aid in one’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Register for the class here. 

Follow along with Audrey Roxas as she teaches participants yoga with a focus on strength and stability in a small group setting. Practice yoga while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Gardens during a summer morning at the park.

Participants should bring a water bottle, yoga mat, snack, bug spray, sun protection, and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors.

Have you ever wanted to experience the Anacostia River from a different perspective? Join us for WELLderness on the water! We are partnering with the Anacostia Watershed Society to provide FREE* pontoon boat tours along the Anacostia River.

THIS EVENT IS NOT HELD AT THE KENILWORTH AQUATIC GARDENS!

We will be meeting at the “dock” at Kenilworth Parkside Park near the soccer fields, directions in the registration link.
 

*Registration is required as there are participant waivers to sign with the Anacostia Watershed Society.

Tai Chi is a meditative martial art which provides health benefits and can assist in overcoming medical challenges. Register for this class to learn in a small group setting on a summer morning. This class will be led by Darrell Fogan.

Participants should bring a water bottle, snack, bug spray, sun protection (sunscreen/block, hat, sunglasses), and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors.

The Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens invite all park guests and visitors to listen to the East of the River Boys & Girls Steel Band as they perform at the park.

Listen to the sounds of the steel pan as members of the East of the River Boys & Girls Steel Band perform musical selections for all ages. They are a music training, performing and touring program for youth 12 to 18 years of age living east of DC’s Anacostia River. Grab a seat and enjoy!
