Directions & Hours

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is located at 1550 Anacostia Ave NE, Washington, DC.

PLEASE NOTE: The main parking lot and entrance are closed due to maintenance. Please use street parking along Anacostia Ave, or the surrounding streets. Please enter the park via the marked pathway that is next to the green NPS ranger tent, at the intersection of Anacostia Ave & Douglas St. (See image below)

The park remains accessible by Metro via the Orange Line, and by bike via the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. The park can be explored at high tide by kayak or canoe. For more information on biking, walking, and water access, check out this map.

Please also note, 2025 summer extended hours have concluded. 

The park grounds open at 8a.m. year round for birdwatching, photography, and morning strolls. Visitor services including the visitor center, restrooms, and park rangers are available:

Regular Operating hours:

8am-4p Monday-Sunday, with the Visitor Center open 9am-3p. 

The park is closed ONLY on: New Year’s Day (January 1), Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (December 25).

Note: Be sure to check closing times as the gates in the parking lot will be locked promptly at that time. If you find yourself locked in, please call the U.S. Park Police at (202) 617-7500.

 

 

When maintenance is complete:

The park is accessible by car with a small parking lot, by Metro (Deanwood or Minnesota Avenue stops on the Orange Line), by bike (via the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail), and can be explored at high tide by kayak or canoe. For more information on biking, walking, and water access, check out this map.
