Join us on Saturday, October 26 for a volunteer service event! We will spend the morning removing invasive plants, collecting litter and working on other park-beautification projects.
WHEN: Saturday, October 26, 9:00am to 12:00pm. Registration opens at 8:30am, please arrive no later than 8:45am.
WHERE: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. By Car: Enter the park at the Anacostia Ave entrance to access the free visitors parking lot. By Metro: Kenilworth is accessible via the Deanwood Metro stop (orange line).
WHAT: Volunteers will spend the morning removing invasive plants, picking up trash and working on other park projects. The event will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly and plan to work outside.
BRING WITH YOU: Be prepared to work outside! Please wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothes. Please also bring your own water bottle and sunscreen.
OTHER: We encourage families and students to join us. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or guardian. This event is eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
DONATIONS: Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. We work alongside the National Park Service to maintain the park. Our volunteer events are free but we appreciate all donations. You can make a donation by selecting the “donate” ticket when you register here on Eventbrite, or drop some cash in our donation box inside the park’s visitor center when you come to volunteer.
