Alex’s Summer Experience with The Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens
By Alex Lopez
It was a pleasure working with the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens together with the National Park Service!
Although my stay was only for the duration for the summer, I got to meet many people from unique backgrounds and talents.
I spoke with interns from NPS who were relatively around my age group, so it was fascinating to listen what they were passionate about and plans after.
Another part of this job that resonated with me was the outreach portion, getting to table and talk to locals within the community was insightful.
It was also a delight watching the performers on stage at the Lotus and Water Lily Festival. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to use my camera skills during the events and incorporating them onto to our multiple platforms.
In terms of media, I also had a chance to learn how to manage website content which in my opinion will serve me well into the future.
I want to thank my team as well as friends Sheena, Alivia and Shannah for helping me transition into the job so effectively. I am lucky to have been apart of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens!
